CANDLEMASS Bassist Issues Update
October 6, 2009Bassist Leif Edling of Swedish doom metal legends CANDLEMASS has issued the following update:
"Thank you all for coming to the gigs this summer. It has been awesome!
"The response to the new album ['Death Magic Doom'] has really inspired us to be even better live. I mean, with fans like you we feel at home all over the world. So thank you for all the great support!
"The gigs in Sweden with ANGEL WITCH and TROUBLE were absolutely fantastic. I had a wonderful time seeing Kevin Heybourne play and sing, and we even shared trains in between the cities. ANGEL WITCH and TROUBLE were totally super live... and man, to see and hear Rick [Wartell] and Bruce [Franklin] play guitar is nothing but mind-blowing! They play like one big guitar!! Just great!! Three great bands and not one ego in sight.
"After an incredible gig in Stockholm last week, we went down to Greece and Athens to play the last show for the year. And what a kick it was! Nearly 1,000 people went absolutely nuts during our two-hour set! Fucking hell... I even had to stagedive, hehe... it's on YouTube if you wanna see yours truly crowd surf (see clip below). Too bad they missed the leap out from the monitor! It was quite a gap there to the fence... gulp. It was filmed with 4-6 cameras so if not the curse of CANDLEMASS strikes (again),I'm sure you will see soon on a TV screen near you."
"Death Magic Doom" debuted at No. 79 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. The CD entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 52. The group's previous album, "King of the Grey Islands", debuted at No. 83 back in June 2007.
Demonia's Blogg has been updated with video footage and photos of CANDLEMASS's September 28, 2009 performance at Debaser in Stockholm, Sweden with TROUBLE and ANGEL WITCH. One of the clips can be viewed below.
